Great list Steve... Never heard of Benedictum before... Listened to a couple of songs on youtube and got hooked. Got both CD now... The singer doesn't have the "usual" female screaming voice... And the music is top notch...

If you like girl fronted band you should definitely give a try to Crucified Barbara... All girls band...One of my favorite band in the past 5 year. Their 2nd CD will be out really soon. If you plan on getting the first one (In distortion we trust), I'd suggest the special CD/DVD edition, mainly because of the 2 extra tracks: Killed by death (Motorhead) and Shout It Out Loud (Kiss).

The Testament CD was awesome... Way better than Death Magnetic imo. And as Rene mentioned in his list, I would definitely put the new Motley Crue album up there.

As for Nostradamus, I'm with Bob on that... And not because I'm nostalgic or anything... I though Angel Of Retribution was kick ass... I would have gladly buy another one like that...

Finally, I would add the new Cancer Bats CD (Hail Destroyer)... If you never heard of them before you'll be blown away...

I really don't understand what anyone heard in Nostradamus that they liked. If you're just nostalgic for old Priest, it can't possibly satidfy. If you were looking for a bold new direction, it's only bold in that it took huge egos to expect anyone to take that crap seriously on any level. If you were just looking for a great rock album, it lacks charisma and songwriting. It's incredibly long and yet there's no songs that are better than filler material. It was the worst album I heard this year.

I have yet to hear that Testament album, so I guess i should check it out and I'm now curious about the Uriah Heep album after seeing it on several lists.

We have three in common on this half of the list. A lot here that I have not heard. The Priest album was awful. I wanted to like the MSG album and it had some great solos, but much of it seemed forced as well. I got that Moonspell to review and just never got around to taking it out of the case. Maybe I should give it a try.

Hey Man, I really enjoyed "The Top 30 Albums of 2008". It was refreshing NOT to see Metallica, GNR and AC/DC in the top five. I completely agree with your assessment of JP's Nostradamus. I saw them play in Yokohama this year with my sixteen year old daughter, her first concert, and they rocked. Rob sounded great and the new songs complimented the set list.

Hopefully 2009 will be a banner year with new studio albums from KISS, Ace and Immortal.
