I think Slip of the tongue is a great album with two weak elements: Cheap an’nasty and kitten’s got claws, because, to me , they don’t sound like Whitesnake. The best songs are Siling Ships, Wings of the storm and Judgement day

Judgement day was released as a single. It didn’t crack the hot 100 and it onl got to #32 on the mainstream rock trax.

I like Fool For Your Loving so it gets a pass but Kittens and Cheap n Nasty are just plain bad. There have been many interviews with Coverdale over the years where he has said that ‘Judgement Day’ was supposed to be the lead single, I found a couple online. It’s too bad he caved to the record label’s wishes.

Great album, yeah it doesn’t rock as much as their ’87 release, but it’s still a classic WS album, IMO.

I love “Cheap N Nasty” because it IS a cheap & nasty song. “The Deeper the Love” is one of my faves from the band.

“Judgment Day” always sounded like an homage/sequel to “Kashmir,” much like “Still of the Night” was an homage/sequel to “Whole Lotta Love.”

I also think that “Kittens,” “Cheap,” and “Deeper” were monstrosities. But I still listen to some of the other tracks often.

Cheap N Nasty, Kittens Got Claws and that awful remake of Fool For Your Loving are amongst the worst things David Coverdale has ever committed to vinyl imho. Other than them its a decent album. Like Coverdale says, Judgement Day should have been the lead off single. I seem to recall saying very similar things to you when I posted about this album on Rock Of Ages sometime ago.
