From Bravewords.com:
Judas Priest’s long-awaited concept album, Nostradamus, will be released in Europe on June 13th as a regular CD and Deluxe Edition CD via Sony/BMG. Guitarist K.K. Downing told BW&BK recently that the album – based on the life and predictions of 16th-century French prophet Nostradamus – will contain “18 songs clocking in at over an hour and a half.”
In a separate interview with BW&BK, frontman Rob Halford added: “We’re treating this like it’s the holy grail of heavy metal. We’re so protective about it – which you have to be – because I think that one of the intriguing things about creating anything – whether it be writing a book or making a move – the less you say about something, the more people want to know about it. And we don’t need to hype it up, it’s internal. The metal fans around the world have great expectations for this record. They know we’re not going to drop the ball. They know we’re going to give everybody something that’s fantastic and top quality. And that’s what it should be after 35 years.”
More details will be revealed in a press release soon.

Does anyone else here it? The sound of the train wreck that’s coming. I am very scared that this album is going to be horrible. I hope that I am wrong, but I don’t have high hopes for this one.
This album has two things going against it. First, the last JP album was pretty rotten. Second, it’s about Nostradamus. Concept albums are tricky anyway, but to do one on a subject as lightweight as Nostradamus is almost certain to fail.
I bet Nostradamus could hear the train wreck coming.
You don’t have to be Nostradamus to predict that this concept album does not sound like a good idea.
I can hardly wait. I have a lot of hope. I loved ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION and for shore this will be again a great album. JUDAS never made a bad one with ROB (yes, i like ROCKA ROLLA too).
I’m cautiously optimistic. I love Judas Priest, I liked AoR a lot. But I’m generally not a fan of concept albums (they tend to worry about the story more than the music) and I gotta think a 90 minute 18-track album is going to have an awful lot of filler.
I’ll be the first one to say they pulled it off if they do, but I’m not totally sold they can.
Priest has only disappointed me a time or two and even those grew on me after awhile. But hey… if you’re going down, go down in flames and a hail of bullets!! I think there is way more than enough subject matter to tie-in Nostradamus and they’re sticking to the normal (for them) and reasonable 5-minute or so song. I remain skeptical yet anticipatory!
Concept records scare me…..either pure genius or total crap. I liked ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION so my hopes are high for new Priest. I’m going to pick it up right away.
