Here’s the last ten albums I’ve listened to:

  • American Angel – Vanity (2007)
  • Jeff Scott Soto – Live At The Gods Festival 2002 (2003)
  • Saga – Worlds Apart (1982)
  • KISS – Peter Criss (1978)
  • Q5 – Steel The Light (1984)
  • Def Leppard – On Through The Night (1980)
  • Iron Maiden – Iron Maiden (1980)
  • Tygers Of Pan Tang – Wild Cat (1980)
  • Samson – Head On (1980)
  • Saxon – Wheels Of Steel (1980)

Anyone see a trend with the last five albums? I’ve been listening to a little NWOBHM lately, comparing top bands and their releases. I’ve been focusing on debuts but the Saxon and Samson albums are actually sophomore efforts.

What have you been listening to lately?

Great albums Steve. My fave album by SAMSON is BEFORE THE STORM but HEAD ON is cool too of course.
I am also listening to a lot of SAXON. I started to listen their debut album till THE INNER SANCTUM and i am giving points to find out what albums i like more and what albums i like less. I never listen to all SAXON albums from the first till the last and its nice to do that getting my vinyls and cd´s ready to be played. I did the same thing with my JUDAS PRIEST albums and MANOWAR albums some time ago.
Q5:STEEL THE LIGHT is increible too.

  2. I like to listen to bands in order too. If I get in the mood for a certain band, I will start right at the beginning and run straight through. A great way to compare and contrast each release and the growth (or lack of) of the band.

    I have been listening to:
Motley Crue-s/t and Shout and the devil
Four Horsemen-Nobody said it was easy
    Captain Beyond
    Nebula-Apollo
    Ratt-Out of the celler
    Accept-Metal Heart

Nice RHODEISLAND that you are doing the same thing as i do and yes i do it also to contrast each release.

I have been collecting Samson cd’s too lately . These are their best releases and essential stuff ; “before the storm” and “don’t get mad, get even” , “joint forces” and “thank you and good night” (live) . Pretty much the cd’s Nicky Moore is on.

Yes, cool SAMSON records you named SPEEDY(do you know the band SPEEDY???). Beside those i also love REFUGEE. Lot more comercial and melodic (nearly AOR on some songs) BUT STILL great. Also SAMSON from 93 is good, more NWOBHM sounding with some great songs. I realy like all SAMSON ALBUMS.
