I spent most of my free time today loading up my Dell DJ 30. It’s an excellent 30 GB MP3 player that I bought from Dell for half the price of an iPod 30 or 60.
- 8.97 GB used
- 191 full albums (includes multi-CD sets as 1 album)
- 2207 songs
I have full discographies in there from:
- Balance Of Power
- Black’n Blue
- Black Sabbath
- D.C. Cooper (solo)
- Def Leppard
- Iron Maiden
- Judas Priest
- Trans-Siberian Orchestra
- Vinnie Vincent Invasion
I also have multiple albums from UFO, Triumph, Gotthard, Queensryche, Metal Church, Lacuna Coil, Jag Panzer, and Alice Cooper. I usually put in new purchases and delete them if they are less than memorable. I have about 7.5% of my collection in this little player that’s the size of my Visa and as thick as 2 jewel cases.
Technology is cool!
When I was a kid, I desperately wanted to play guitar. I was the oldest of 3, and when I got seriously into Metal, Mom was recently divorced. Putting extra money into a guitar and lessons just wasn’t in the cards. Over the years, I’ve had the idea to buy an axe and learn but I always gave up on it. Until…..
My father-in-law is a good guitarist. He grew up in England and started playing guitar in the mid-1960s, influenced by Brian Jones from the Stones. For the 3 years I have been telling my wife that I wanted to learn and she kept telling me to just do it.
I finally decided that it was time, that my dream of plugging in would happen on this vacation. My father-in-law had scouted the local shops for a decent used acoustic and we were off to the Guitar Center Wednesday night. We ended up buying a brand new Takamine G320 Dreadnought Acoustic for $200.
I just needed a basic guitar. It sounded great compared to the others, we must have been through about 20 before we settled on the Takamine. Nice sound, low action…..great for a beginner.
Any players with tips for a humble beginner, please send them along.
