Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony has started the Mad Anthony Blog to keep the fans up to date on The Other Half’s (Mike & Sammy Hagar) summer tour. Looks like it could be an interesting tour blog!

If they’d announce a New England date, I’m going. I saw the Sam & Dave Tour and the set with Hagar, Anthony, & the Waboritas was awesome. Closest thing to Van Halen we’re going to get.

Guess who?

This is Lauren Harris, daughter of Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris.

Damn! Didn’t know ‘Arry had a daughter, let alone a beautiful one!

Lauren has a fine voice and sings some decent PowerPop. She is currently in the studio and has samples of three tunes on her MySpace site.

Check out Lauren’s MySpace page for more info on her upcoming album.

Echoes From The Illusion – Lana Lane Authorized Fansite

Lana Lane is a strong female vocalist in the Symphonic Rock and Progressive Rock/Metal genres with an extremely beautiful voice. Her sense of melody, power, and artistic flair lets her sing everything from ballads to straight Metal. Band members include: Lana Lane, Erik Norlander, Mark McCrite, Neil Citron, Don Schiff, et al. All are extremely accomplished musicians and songwriters. I find it hard to find comparable singers or bands I would put Lana Lane in similar company with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart and maybe Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil but better.

I discovered Lana Lane through the fine writers at Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles. After reading some album reviews and some online research, I decided to take a chance on the Best Of set.

This is a basic best of collection that gives the listener a taste of the music that Lana Lane creates: Hard rockers like Symphony Of Angels, Destination Roswell, and Love Is An Illusion and soft ballads like Avalon and Seasons End. This whole collection, and the entire Lana Lane discography, is just full of beautiful music and songwriting….musicians of the highest caliber producing wonderful art.

Favorite tracks: Under The Olive Tree, Avalon, Destination Roswell
Actually, I haven’t found a Lana Lane song I don’t like through 11 albums and 2 E.P.s, even her cover songs are excellent and offer more to the listener. This band has become one of my favorite bands in a very short time.

Schoolboy Crush auction

I have this CD! I got mine for $55 when the seller listed it incorrectly.

This album is OK. It’s average late ’80s Hard Rock. Worth $200+? IMO, no.

The band just got together and released a new album in 2005 on SunCity Records (Australia).

Looks like I could make a profit!

Weekend playlist

Posted: May 1, 2006 in Now Playing

Even though I refused to leave my bedroom TV during day for the NFL Draft, I still had to go to work at night.

Working 3rd shift has it’s benefits when it comes to music because I can load the Dell DJ up and listen to 7 hours of Metal or I can bring in some CDs and play the stereo. Either way, this is how I listen to music at night 6 days a week.

Here’s what I had going this weekend:

Black’n Blue – s/t
Blackmore’s Night – The Village Lanterne
Saxon – s/t thru Crusader
Buckcherry – 15
Toto – Falling In Between
Lana Lane – Ballad Collection (Special Edition)
Hydrogen – Bombshell
Westworld – s/t
Evergrey – Monday Morning Apocalypse
Judas Priest – British Steel
UFO – Sharks
Black Sabbath – Heaven and Hell
Iron Maiden – s/t and Killers
